  • participant in a project for the DTI, to evaluate the PEDDS Programme, (Power Electronic Devices and Derived Systems)

 

  • project manager of a study for the Wellcome Trust which involved collaborating with the Trust to carry out a mid-term review of their Equipment Funding Scheme.

 

  • consultant to the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) working in close association with the Director for Planning and External Affairs, advising on a methodology for the prioritisation of scientific programmes which was incorporated into NERC's first Corporate Plan

 

  • project manager of a study for the ABRC (Advisory Board for the Research Councils) update and redesign a database containing 16,000 pieces of high - value (>£10,000) research equipment in UK universities

 

  • project manager of a study for the ABRC to investigate the possibilities for equipment sharing in UK universities, including a comparison with methodologies for increased sharing adopted in the US, UK private sectors, and NHS.

 

  • performed an exercise to evaluate the review procedure for the EC's FAST  Programme, a large multidisciplinary project aimed at assessing technological trends in a variety of areas over the next few decades

 

  • small scale evaluation of a European initiative in advanced IT, ESPRIT, which was funded by the DTI

 

  • participant  in an EC funded project (DG XII) which analysed the effects of EC funding on science and technology in the UK (UKIMPACT)

 

  • participant in project for the EC (DG XII), to evaluate the management of collaboration in EC R&D Programmes (EPIC)

 

  • participant in a project for the UK Department of the Environment (DoE) concerned with evaluating the research into the environmental design and performance of buildings

 

  • project manager of a study for the DoE, this time performing an evaluation of their Marine Research Programme

 

  • participant in an evaluation of the DoE's Timber Research Programme

           

  • British Council funding for a research trip to India, to investigate the possibility of collaboration with various groups in the areas of clean technologies and marine policy

 

  • British Council funded trip to participate in two seminars in India in January 1994, co-convener and presenter of Keynote Address

 

  • British Council funded trip to India to participate in a conference and fieldwork on the theme of Integrated Coastal Zone Management.
